GSGNA BOARD MEETING
MAY 20, 2010

Call to order by Sandra Krausz, President, at 1810.
Members present: Sandra Krausz, Marilyn Missey, Maurie Kay Dunn, Shelley Riddle, Eileen Pieri, Maureen Hof, Pam Brossier

Special Guests: Bob Carr, Jim Dodds, and Melissa Kubach from Unitas Medical presented their desire to sponsor a program for GSGNA in spring 2011 at Missouri Botanical Gardens. They will pay for speakers, site, and food, and will supply the folders for the seminar.

GSGNA will print and mail the brochures. There will be acknowledgement that the seminar is being paid for by Unitas Medical on the brochure. Cost for attending this program will be $45 for GSGNA members and $60 for non-members.

Possible dates (in preferred order) are April 16, 9, 30, or 2, 201 I. We will meet again at the Sept.25, 2011Board meeting to choose 5 t06 hours of topics and speakers and to finalize the date.

reported that she will add the minutes of the last business meeting and the last two board meetings and the results of the resolutions votes at HOD meeting to the web site.

 

New Business:

July 14,2010, evening seminar, "Scope Reprocessing",
is scheduled with Life Systems for 3 hours, 3 CE' s. Shelley reported that she emailed Jason Buchheit who responded that he will make this work for us. Life Systems will obtain the CE's for the program. We will print and mail the brochures. We will check on food. Cost will be $30 for GSGNA members and $45 for non-members. September 25, 2010, all day seminar, "GI Hodge Podge", will be at St. Anthony's Medical Center auditorium.

Stool Transplantation: Dr. Gardner from St. Mary's is unavailable. We will have Pat will ask Dr. German from St. Luke's.

EUS: Dr. Faris Murad from Washington University will speak.

Barrx for Barretts: Dr. Dana Early from Washington Univ. is unavailable. Dr. Edmundowitz will speak instead.

Colon Surgeries-anal fissures, laparoscopic colon resection, etc.:
Shelley will ask Dr. Schuval from St. Anthony's.

Interventional Radiologic Procedures-TIPS, MRCP, PTC, etc:
Shelley will ask Dr. Abu-Awad from St. Anthony's. If needed, we can consider Malignant Hyperthermia as an alternate topic. Cost will be $40 for GSGNA members and $55 for non-members.

Fall Seminar:

Spring Seminar:  The date is 4-10-10.  It will take place in the SAMC auditorium.  Continental breakfast, box lunch and vendor presentations will be in the cafeteria.  Sandy will present the SGNA resolutions for discussion and member voting.

8:15-8:30      Presidential Welcome.
8:30-9:30      Dr. Bhat.
9:30-10:00    Break and vendors.
10:00-12:00  Balloon Enteroscopy.
12:00-1:00    Lunch and business meeting.
1:00-2:00       Erbe and APC
2:00-3:00       Pacemakers and Defibrillators
3:00-3:15       Evaluations and certificates

Next meeting: Scheduled for Thursday, July 22,2010 at 6:00 PM in St. Anthony's Medical Center cafeteria to fmalize the fall seminar.

 

Evening Seminar:

November 3,2010, evening seminar, "ERCP", will be at St. Luke's Hospital. Dr. Walden from St. Luke's will speak 1 hour on diagnostics and a doctor from Washington University speak 2 hours on therapeutics for a total of3 hours, 3 CE's.

Cost will be $30 for GSGNA members and $45 for non-members. Old Business: A copy of the resolutions outcomes of the 2009 SGNA Board meeting and the 2010 SGNA HOD meeting were distributed for review. There was no discussion.

JANUARY 14, 2010

President Sandy Krausz called the meeting to order at 6:37pm.   Members in attendance were: Sandy, Maureen Hoff, Shelley Riddle, Maurie Dunn, Marilyn Missy and Jo Scholze.

Communications:

Not present.  Round table discussion about how to improve our website.  We need to web-post the minutes, newsletter and events.  Sandy will check into asking Eileen about Communications Director position.

 

New Business:

GI Nurses Day—The date is 3-20-10 and the place is Spazios.  Time to be the same as 2009.  The speaker will be Jeanie Ebert from ABCGN.  CE will be earned but not GI specific.  Shelley will take care of ordering the food and we will meet again on 2-4-10 to stuff brochures.  Each member in attendance will receive a certificate for a 2010 GSGNA seminar and tuition to the SGNA National will be awarded to one member in attendance.

GI Nurses Day Celebration:

Will be held March 20th and the speaker will be from ABCGN and speak on the benefits of certification.  It will be at Spazio’s.  The menu will be decided at the next board meeting.

 

Spring Seminar:

Will be on Sat, April10, 2010, at SAMC.  Possible subjects are:

  1. Small bowel endoscopy
  2. Single and double lumen balloon.
  3. GI Bleed by Dr. Bhat
  4.  Pacemakers and defibrillators

Further planning will be done at the January board meeting.

 

Next Meeting:

The next board meeting will be January 7, 2010 in SAMC’s cafeteria at 6pm.

Not present.  Sandy reported feedback from the National Course held in St. Louis was all positive.

 

Annual Course:

The annual SGNA Course will be held in Orlando, FL.

 

Resolutions 2009:

Shelley had 2009 results but was unavailable .  The resolutions for 2010 will be discussed at the spring seminar.  Sandy and Marilyn Missey briefly discussed the resolution process.

 

New Business:

GI Nurses Day and the Spring seminar are in the planning stages

 

Election Results:

President-elect is Marilyn Missey, treasurer is Maurie Dunn, Maureen Mehlic was elected to SGNA office of Secretary
